One of the most important aspects of all our whale watching trips is the education provided to our passengers. Our naturalists have over 20 years of experience with the whales and other marine life. You will receive expert analysis of the interesting behaviors and activities of the whales and other wildlife we observe on our journey. We hope this gives you greater insight and a deeper appreciation for this unique SAN DIEGO MARINE ADVENTURE.
May through November means the migration of mighty finback and the great blue whales. Finbacks can reach lengths of 75 feet while the blues, the largest animal on earth, can be over 100 feet and weigh over 200 tons! Minke, pilot, and sperm whales are also possible sightings. These whales are generally found 5 to 9 miles off shore feeding on our local banks.
Throughout the year various types of playful dolphins (Pacific white sided, Pacific common, and Rissos) are encountered on most trips with some pods numbering into the hundreds! These dolphins will regularly seek out the boat on their own to greet you and to show their amazing acrobatic abilities.
Other pelagic creatures such as the California sea lions, harbor seals and a wide variety of birds also await you on every trip!
